About Louisiana Lotto
Louisiana Lotto is a $1 game with fixed prizes below the jackpot: $1,000 for five numbers, $50 for four and $3 for three. That makes it one of the cheaper 6-number games to wheel, and every guarantee has a known value.
The jackpot starts at $500,000 and grows until someone wins it. It is paid in cash.
Matching two numbers pays nothing in Louisiana Lotto, so every wheel here guarantees at least a three-number match. Be wary of any system that promises "two numbers every time."
What Louisiana Lotto wheels cost
Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match ($3) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.
| Numbers you mark | Tickets | Cost per draw | Cost per week | How often the guarantee comes into play |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 of 42 | 4 | $4 | $8 | 1 in 14 draws, about once every 7 weeks |
| 10 of 42 | 10 | $10 | $20 | 1 in 7.4 draws, about once every 4 weeks |
| 12 of 42 | 15 | $15 | $30 | 1 in 4.6 draws, about once every 2 weeks |
| 15 of 42 | 31 | $31 | $62 | 1 in 2.8 draws, about once a week or more |
| 18 of 42 | 48 | $48 | $96 | 52% draws, about once a week or more |
The cost per week covers all 2 draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Can a wheel improve your odds?
No. Each line still has the same 1 in 5,245,786 chance at the top prize and returns about $0.21 in other prizes on average, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions
How many numbers should I mark?
As many as your budget allows. In Louisiana Lotto, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $4 to $48 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 14 draws to 52%. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.
Can I take this printout to the store?
Not as a playslip: Louisiana voids playslips printed by a machine. Copy your lines onto official playslips by hand, read them to the clerk, or make a digital playslip in the Louisiana Lottery app. Louisiana also forbids buying every combination to guarantee a jackpot; a wheel only combines your own numbers, so it never does that.
