About North Carolina Cash 5

Below the jackpot, Cash 5 prizes are fixed: $250 for four numbers, $5 for three and $1 for two. So a wheel's three- and four-number guarantees have a known value.

The jackpot starts at $100,000 and is won surprisingly often: 12 times in the 92 draws from July to September 2026, paying from about $88,000 to over $1 million per ticket.

What North Carolina Cash 5 wheels cost

Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match ($5) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.

The cost per week covers all 7 draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Can a wheel improve your odds?

No. Each line still has the same 1 in 962,598 chance at the top prize and returns about $0.17 in other prizes on average, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions

How many numbers should I mark?

As many as your budget allows. In North Carolina Cash 5, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $8 to $94 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 27 draws to 1 in 2.9. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.

What is Double Play?

For $1 more per line, your same numbers go into a second drawing with fixed prizes: $50,000 for all five, $500 for four, $12 for three and $3 for two. It doubles the cost of a wheel.

Can I play Cash 5 online?

Yes, through the North Carolina Lottery's own Online Play website and app, while you're in North Carolina. Double Play and EZ Match are sold only in stores.
