About Connecticut Lotto!

Connecticut Lotto! is a $1 game, cheap for a 6-number lotto, so wheels cost less than in most states. Three numbers pay a fixed $2; four and five numbers share their prize pools, usually about $50 and $2,000.

The jackpot starts at $1 million and grows until someone wins it. It is paid over 21 years, or as a lump sum.

Matching two numbers pays nothing in Connecticut Lotto!, so every wheel here guarantees at least a three-number match. Be wary of any system that promises "two numbers every time."

What Connecticut Lotto! wheels cost

Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match ($2) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.

Numbers you markTicketsCost per drawCost per weekHow often the guarantee comes into play
8 of 444$4$81 in 16 draws, about once every 8 weeks
10 of 4410$10$201 in 8.4 draws, about once every 4 weeks
12 of 4415$15$301 in 5.2 draws, about once every 3 weeks
15 of 4431$31$621 in 3.1 draws, about once every 2 weeks
18 of 4448$48$961 in 2.1 draws, about once a week or more

The cost per week covers all 2 draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Can a wheel improve your odds?

No. Each line still has the same 1 in 7,059,052 chance at the top prize, and on average about 53¢ of every dollar comes back as prizes, jackpot included, however you choose the numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions

How many numbers should I mark?

As many as your budget allows. In Connecticut Lotto!, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $4 to $48 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 16 draws to 1 in 2.1. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.

Can I play online?

Yes. The Connecticut Lottery sells draw games on its own website and app to players who are in Connecticut, so you can enter a wheel's lines there instead of filling in playslips.
