About Gimme 5

Gimme 5 is drawn every weekday in New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine. Below the top prize, every prize is fixed: $250 for four numbers, $7 for three and $2 for two.

The top prize is $100,000 shared among that draw's winners, so it never rolls over into a big jackpot, but a single winner takes all of it.

What Gimme 5 wheels cost

Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match ($7) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.

Numbers you markTicketsCost per drawCost per weekHow often the guarantee comes into play
8 of 398$8$401 in 20 draws, about once every 4 weeks
10 of 3917$17$851 in 10 draws, about once every 2 weeks
12 of 3929$29$1451 in 6.3 draws, about once a week or more

18 of 3994$94$4701 in 2.4 draws, about once a week or more

The cost per week covers all 5 draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Can a wheel improve your odds?

No. Each line still has the same 1 in 575,757 chance at the top prize and returns about $0.35 in other prizes on average, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions

How many numbers should I mark?

As many as your budget allows. In Gimme 5, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $8 to $94 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 20 draws to 1 in 2.4. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.

Where can I play Gimme 5?

In New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine, which run it together as the Tri-State Lottery.

Can I take this printout to the store?

Not as a playslip: the Tri-State rules don't accept copied or machine-printed playslips. Copy your lines onto official playslips, or read them to the clerk. In New Hampshire you can also buy online, on the New Hampshire Lottery's website and app.
