About Illinois Lotto
Every $2 Illinois Lotto play enters three drawings with the same numbers: the jackpot drawing, plus Lotto Million 1 and Lotto Million 2, which each pay $1 million for all six numbers. The smaller prizes, and this wheel's guarantees, come from the jackpot drawing only; the two Lotto Million drawings are extra chances at $1 million for every line.
Three numbers pays a fixed $5 and two numbers $2. Four and five numbers are shared among the winners: four typically paid about $53 and five about $2,500 between July and September 2026.
What Illinois Lotto wheels cost
Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match ($5) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.
| Numbers you mark | Tickets | Cost per draw | Cost per week | How often the guarantee comes into play |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 of 50 | 4 | $8 | $24 | 1 in 23 draws, about once every 8 weeks |
| 10 of 50 | 10 | $20 | $60 | 1 in 12 draws, about once every 4 weeks |
| 12 of 50 | 15 | $30 | $90 | 1 in 7.1 draws, about once every 2 weeks |
| 15 of 50 | 31 | $62 | $186 | 1 in 4.1 draws, about once a week or more |
| 18 of 50 | 48 | $96 | $288 | 1 in 2.7 draws, about once a week or more |
The cost per week covers all 3 draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Can a wheel improve your odds?
No. Each line still has the same 1 in 15,890,700 chance at the top prize, and on average about 50¢ of every dollar comes back as prizes, jackpot included, however you choose the numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions
How many numbers should I mark?
As many as your budget allows. In Illinois Lotto, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $8 to $96 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 23 draws to 1 in 2.7. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.
What is Extra Shot?
For $1 more per line, the terminal gives your line a number from 1 to 25 and one is drawn. If yours matches, 4- and 5-number prizes are multiplied by 25 and smaller matches pay $5 to $125. It adds $1 to every line of a wheel.
Can I play Lotto online?
Yes, on the Illinois Lottery's own website and app, while you're in Illinois. Courier services aren't authorized in Illinois.
