About Megabucks
Below the jackpot, Megabucks prizes are fixed: $5,000 for five numbers, $200 for four and $4 for three. So a four-number guarantee is worth exactly $200, and the wheels here show how often it comes up.
Megabucks changed in November 2023 from 6 numbers out of 49 at $1 to 6 out of 44 at $2, with a Monday draw added. The smaller pool means the draw lands on several of your numbers more often than before.
Matching two numbers pays nothing in Megabucks, so every wheel here guarantees at least a three-number match. Be wary of any system that promises "two numbers every time."
What Megabucks wheels cost
Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match ($4) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.
| Numbers you mark | Tickets | Cost per draw | Cost per week | How often the guarantee comes into play |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 of 44 | 4 | $8 | $24 | 1 in 16 draws, about once every 5 weeks |
| 10 of 44 | 10 | $20 | $60 | 1 in 8.4 draws, about once every 3 weeks |
| 12 of 44 | 15 | $30 | $90 | 1 in 5.2 draws, about once every 2 weeks |
| 15 of 44 | 31 | $62 | $186 | 1 in 3.1 draws, about once a week or more |
| 18 of 44 | 48 | $96 | $288 | 1 in 2.1 draws, about once a week or more |
The cost per week covers all 3 draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Can a wheel improve your odds?
No. Each line still has the same 1 in 7,059,052 chance at the top prize and returns about $0.56 in other prizes on average, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions
How many numbers should I mark?
As many as your budget allows. In Megabucks, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $8 to $96 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 16 draws to 1 in 2.1. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.
Can I play Megabucks online?
Yes. Since July 2026 the Massachusetts Lottery sells Megabucks on its own website and app to players 21 and over who are in Massachusetts.
