About Lotto 47
Below the jackpot, Lotto 47 prizes are fixed: $2,500 for five numbers, $100 for four and $5 for three. That makes it one of the best 6-number games to wheel, because every guarantee has a known value.
The Michigan Lottery's own website offers "Combo My Numbers", which buys every combination of 7 to 10 numbers: a full wheel. Ten numbers that way is 210 plays. The wheels here cover the same numbers with far fewer tickets, in exchange for a smaller guarantee.
Matching two numbers pays nothing in Lotto 47, so every wheel here guarantees at least a three-number match. Be wary of any system that promises "two numbers every time."
What Lotto 47 wheels cost
Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match ($5) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.
| Numbers you mark | Tickets | Cost per draw | Cost per week | How often the guarantee comes into play |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 of 47 | 4 | $4 | $8 | 1 in 19 draws, about once every 2 months |
| 10 of 47 | 10 | $10 | $20 | 1 in 9.9 draws, about once every 5 weeks |
| 12 of 47 | 15 | $15 | $30 | 1 in 6.1 draws, about once every 3 weeks |
| 15 of 47 | 31 | $31 | $62 | 1 in 3.5 draws, about once every 2 weeks |
| 18 of 47 | 48 | $48 | $96 | 1 in 2.4 draws, about once a week or more |
The cost per week covers all 2 draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Can a wheel improve your odds?
No. Each line still has the same 1 in 10,737,573 chance at the top prize and returns about $0.27 in other prizes on average, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions
How many numbers should I mark?
As many as your budget allows. In Lotto 47, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $4 to $48 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 19 draws to 1 in 2.4. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.
What is Double Play?
For $1 more per line, your same numbers go into a second drawing right after the main one, with a $1.5 million top prize and double the other prizes. It doubles the cost of a wheel.
Can I play Lotto 47 online?
Yes, on the Michigan Lottery's own website and app, while you're in Michigan.
