About Bank a Million
Every Bank a Million prize is fixed, including the $1,408,451 top prize, which Virginia advertises as about $1 million after the taxes it withholds. That makes every wheel guarantee here worth a known amount.
Each $2 play can be one $2 line, two $1 lines or four 50¢ lines, and prizes scale with the line. Prices and prizes here are for $2 lines; playing $1 lines halves both, so the guarantees and odds stay exactly the same.
The Bonus Ball is a seventh ball you don't pick. If it matches one of the numbers on your line that missed, it raises the prize: three numbers plus the Bonus Ball pays $40 instead of $4, and two numbers plus the Bonus Ball pays $8.
Matching two numbers without the Bonus Ball pays nothing in Bank a Million, so every wheel here guarantees at least a three-number match. Be wary of any system that promises "two numbers every time."
What Bank a Million wheels cost
Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match ($4) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.
| Numbers you mark | Tickets | Cost per draw | Cost per week | How often the guarantee comes into play |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 of 40 | 4 | $8 | $16 | 1 in 12 draws, about once every 6 weeks |
| 10 of 40 | 10 | $20 | $40 | 1 in 6.5 draws, about once every 3 weeks |
| 12 of 40 | 15 | $30 | $60 | 1 in 4.1 draws, about once every 2 weeks |
| 15 of 40 | 31 | $62 | $124 | 1 in 2.5 draws, about once a week or more |
| 18 of 40 | 48 | $96 | $192 | 57% draws, about once a week or more |
The cost per week covers all 2 draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Prizes are for a $2 line and are all fixed. A $1 line pays half and a 50¢ line a quarter. The top prize is only shared if its total in one draw would pass $2.8 million. The Bonus Ball counts when it matches one of your numbers that missed. Can a wheel improve your odds?
No. Each line still has the same 1 in 3,838,380 chance at the top prize and returns about $0.66 in other prizes on average, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions
How many numbers should I mark?
As many as your budget allows. In Bank a Million, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $8 to $96 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 12 draws to 57%. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.
Can I print my tickets onto a playslip?
No. Virginia's rules require paper playslips to be marked by hand; the only exception is a digital playslip made in the official Virginia Lottery app, which the retailer scans as a QR code. Copy the lines from our printout onto a slip, or enter them in the app.
Can I buy Bank a Million online?
Check the Virginia Lottery's website: its game page mentions online play, but its online games list doesn't include Bank a Million, so it may be sold only in stores.
