About Virginia Cash 5

Below the jackpot, Virginia Cash 5 prizes are fixed: $200 for four numbers, $5 for three and $1 for two, so every wheel guarantee has a known value.

The jackpot starts at $200,000 and grows at least $5,000 a draw. Between July and September 2026 it was won four times, for $220,000 to about $698,000.

What Virginia Cash 5 wheels cost

Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match ($5) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.

Can a wheel improve your odds?

No. Each line still has the same 1 in 1,221,759 chance at the top prize and returns about $0.15 in other prizes on average, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions

How many numbers should I mark?

As many as your budget allows. In Virginia Cash 5, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $8 to $94 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 31 draws to 1 in 3.2. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.

Can I print my tickets onto a playslip?

No. Virginia's rules require paper playslips to be marked by hand; the only exception is a digital playslip made in the official Virginia Lottery app, which the retailer scans as a QR code. Copy the lines from our printout onto a slip, or enter them in the app.

Can I play Cash 5 online?

Yes, on the Virginia Lottery's own website and app, while you're in Virginia. Courier services aren't allowed in Virginia.
