About EuroDreams
EuroDreams' Dream Number, from 1 to 5, only counts for the top prize of €20,000 a month for 30 years. Every other prize depends on the six main numbers alone, so a wheel's guarantees work whatever Dream Number you pick.
Two numbers give you your €2.50 back, three to five share prize funds (about €5, €34 and €500 on average), and all six without the Dream Number pay €2,000 a month for 5 years. EuroDreams' online terms say it isn't suitable for syndicates, because its top prizes are paid to one person.
What EuroDreams wheels cost
Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match (usually about €5) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.
| Numbers you mark | Tickets | Cost per draw | Cost per week | How often the guarantee comes into play |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 of 40 | 4 | €10 | €20 | 1 in 12 draws, about once every 6 weeks |
| 10 of 40 | 10 | €25 | €50 | 1 in 6.5 draws, about once every 3 weeks |
| 12 of 40 | 15 | €37.50 | €75 | 1 in 4.1 draws, about once every 2 weeks |
| 15 of 40 | 31 | €77.50 | €155 | 1 in 2.5 draws, about once a week or more |
| 18 of 40 | 48 | €120 | €240 | 57% draws, about once a week or more |
The cost per week covers both draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.
Match-2 wheels: more numbers for fewer tickets
In EuroDreams, two numbers on one line pays €2.50. A match-2 wheel guarantees that whenever at least two of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark, at least one ticket matches two. That takes far fewer tickets than a three-number guarantee, so the same money covers many more numbers.
It doesn't change your odds or your average return: whichever tickets you play, two-number prizes give back about 18% of what you spend. What it changes is how regularly those small wins come and, with more numbers marked, how often three or four winning numbers land among yours by luck.
| Numbers you mark | Tickets | Cost per draw | A match-3 wheel would need | How often the guarantee comes into play |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 10 of 40 | 4 | €10 | 10 tickets | 47% of draws, about once a week or more |
| 12 of 40 | 6 | €15 | 15 tickets | 59% of draws, about once a week or more |
| 15 of 40 | 10 | €25 | 31 tickets | 75% of draws, about once a week or more |
| 20 of 40 | 16 | €40 | 71 tickets | 91% of draws, about 2 times a week |
| 25 of 40 | 23 | €57.50 | more than 300 tickets | 98% of draws, about 2 times a week |
| 30 of 40 | 31 | €77.50 | more than 300 tickets | 100% of draws, about 2 times a week |
Mark your numbers in the tool above and choose a "Match 2 if 2" wheel to see its tickets.
Key-number wheels
A key number goes on every ticket, and a smaller wheel covers the rest of your numbers. That cuts the cost a lot, which is why key wheels are popular. The catch is that the guarantee only counts in draws where your key is drawn, and in EuroDreams any one number is drawn about once in 7 draws.
So for the same money, a normal wheel's guarantee comes into play more often. Here are three-number guarantees side by side:
| Your numbers | Tickets | Cost per draw | Guarantee comes into play | Best normal wheel for the same money |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 key + 8 others | 4 | €10 | 1 in 25 draws | 8 numbers, 4 tickets: 1 in 12 draws |
| 1 key + 12 others | 9 | €22.50 | 1 in 13 draws | 9 numbers, 7 tickets: 1 in 8.7 draws |
| 1 key + 16 others | 15 | €37.50 | 1 in 9.6 draws | 12 numbers, 15 tickets: 1 in 4.1 draws |
| 2 keys + 7 others | 2 | €5 | 1 in 91 draws | none this cheap |
| 2 keys + 11 others | 3 | €7.50 | 1 in 68 draws | none this cheap |
| 2 keys + 15 others | 4 | €10 | 1 in 59 draws | 8 numbers, 4 tickets: 1 in 12 draws |
To use one, mark your numbers in the tool above, then choose one or two of them as key numbers.
EuroDreams prizes and odds
| Match | Prize | Odds per line |
|---|---|---|
| 6 numbers + Dream Number | €20,000 a month for 30 years | 1 in 19,191,900 |
| 6 numbers | €2,000 a month for 5 years | 1 in 4,797,975 |
| 5 numbers | Varies, about €500 | 1 in 18,816 |
| 4 numbers | Varies, about €34 | 1 in 456.14 |
| 3 numbers | Varies, about €5 | 1 in 32.07 |
| 2 numbers | €2.50, the line back | 1 in 5.52 |
The top prize is €20,000 a month for 30 years (more in Boosted draws) and the second €2,000 a month for 5 years; average return counts the second at its €120,000 total. The Dream Number only matters for the top prize. Three to five numbers share prize funds, so they vary; two numbers return the €2.50 a line costs. Can a wheel improve your odds?
No. Each line still has the same 1 in 19,191,900 chance at the top prize, and the same average return, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. How lottery wheels work.
Questions
How many numbers should I mark?
As many as your budget allows. In EuroDreams, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from €10 to €120 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 12 draws to 57%. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.
Which Dream Number should I use?
Your choice. Putting the same Dream Number on every ticket means that if it's drawn, every ticket matches it. Mixing them means more of your tickets have a chance, but only one or two can match. On average the two pay the same.
How do I play these tickets in Ireland?
At a National Lottery agent, fill in a playslip for your lines or tell the agent your numbers, and they'll key them in. Post Offices and other outlets that sell only Quick Picks can't sell your own numbers. You can also buy online or in the National Lottery app if you live in the Republic of Ireland and you're there when you play.
