About Gopher 5

Below the jackpot, Gopher 5 prizes are fixed: $500 for four numbers, $15 for three and $1 for two. The jackpot starts at $100,000, is paid in cash and grows until someone wins it.

Gopher 5 is drawn three times a week. With 47 numbers the draw is harder to cover than Minnesota's daily North 5, so the guarantees below pay off less often, but each one pays more.

What Gopher 5 wheels cost

Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match ($15) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.

Numbers you markTicketsCost per drawCost per weekHow often the guarantee comes into play
8 of 478$8$241 in 35 draws, about once every 3 months
10 of 4717$17$511 in 17 draws, about once every 6 weeks
12 of 4729$29$871 in 10 draws, about once every 3 weeks
15 of 4755$55$1651 in 5.6 draws, about once every 2 weeks
18 of 4794$94$2821 in 3.6 draws, about once a week or more

The cost per week covers all 3 draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Can a wheel improve your odds?

No. Each line still has the same 1 in 1,533,939 chance at the top prize and returns about $0.23 in other prizes on average, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions

How many numbers should I mark?

As many as your budget allows. In Gopher 5, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $8 to $94 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 35 draws to 1 in 3.6. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.

Is there a limit on how much I can play?

Yes. Since July 2026, Minnesota's rules don't let anyone buy more than $10,000 of plays for one drawing, and a pool counts as one buyer. Plays over the limit are void. Every wheel here is far below that.

Can I play online?

No. Minnesota Lottery tickets are sold only in stores. The Minnesota Lottery app can turn your numbers into a digital playslip that the retailer scans.
