About North 5

North 5 has used 34 numbers since January 2025 (31 before). With so few numbers, a wheel on 10 or 12 of them catches three winning numbers on a good share of draws; each option above shows exactly how often.

Below the jackpot, prizes are fixed: $50 for four numbers, $5 for three and $1 for two. The jackpot starts at $25,000 and is won often, about one draw in nine in July to September 2026, so it rarely grows large.

What North 5 wheels cost

Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match ($5) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.

The cost per week covers all 7 draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Can a wheel improve your odds?

No. Each line still has the same 1 in 278,256 chance at the top prize and returns about $0.23 in other prizes on average, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions

How many numbers should I mark?

As many as your budget allows. In North 5, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $8 to $94 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 14 draws to 56%. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.

What is EZ Match?

For $1 more per line, you get an instant-win game printed on your ticket that pays on the spot. It's separate from the drawing, and it doubles a wheel's cost.

Can I play online?

No. Minnesota Lottery tickets are sold only in stores. The Minnesota Lottery app can turn your numbers into a digital playslip that the retailer scans.
