About Oz Lotto

Oz Lotto has been 7 numbers from 47, with three supplementaries, since May 2022, and the jackpot starts at $4 million. Unlike most lotto games, one game is enough: there is no minimum of four.

Four winning numbers always win Division 6, and three need a supplementary to win anything, so the most useful wheels here cover four numbers.

Matching two numbers pays nothing in Oz Lotto, so every wheel here guarantees at least a three-number match. Be wary of any system that promises "two numbers every time."

What Oz Lotto wheels cost

Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match (a prize only with a supplementary) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.

Numbers you markTicketsCost per drawCost per weekHow often the guarantee comes into play
8 of 474$5.85$5.851 in 12 draws, about once every 3 months
10 of 476$8.75$8.751 in 6.5 draws, about once every 6 weeks
12 of 4711$16.05$16.051 in 4.1 draws, about once every 4 weeks
15 of 4715$21.90$21.901 in 2.5 draws, about once every 3 weeks
18 of 4732$46.70$46.7055% draws, about once every 2 weeks

The cost per week covers the one draw a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Oz Lotto System entries and wheels

A System entry plays every combination of the numbers you choose, at the full price of every game, so if all the winning numbers are among yours, it holds them. A wheel plays a few of those games instead. If 4 of your numbers are drawn, at least one of its games matches 4 (usually about $26); it can't promise more than that.

System prices are the official selling fees, and so are the wheels' prices. No choice of games changes the odds of any one game, or what entries pay back on average.

Every division shares a prize pool, so the amounts vary; those shown are typical recent ones. Division 1 is a jackpot of at least $4 million that rolls over until it's won. Three supplementary numbers are drawn after the seven winning numbers, from the same barrel; three winning numbers need at least one of them to win. Can a wheel improve your odds?

No. Each line still has the same 1 in 62,891,499 chance at the top prize, and the same average return, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. Questions

How many numbers should I mark?

As many as your budget allows. In Oz Lotto, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from $5.85 to $46.70 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 12 draws to 55%. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.

How do I play these tickets in Australia?

Mark each line on an official coupon by hand at a lottery outlet, or enter them online or in the app: The Lott everywhere except Western Australia, Lotterywest there. A coupon holds up to 18 games and an online entry up to 50. Saved as Favourites in The Lott, a big wheel can be played in store by scanning your member card.
