About EuroMillions

Every EuroMillions line is five numbers from 50 and two Lucky Stars from 12. A wheel covers the main numbers, so its guarantees count main numbers only; any Lucky Stars your winning line also matches move it up to a bigger prize. Two main numbers always win something, usually about £2.70, so a match-2 wheel guarantees a prize whenever two of your numbers are drawn.

Each £2.50 line includes a UK Millionaire Maker code, a raffle for £1 million every draw. Codes are random and have nothing to do with your numbers, so a 20-line wheel simply gets 20 codes.

What EuroMillions wheels cost

Each of these wheels guarantees a three-number match (usually about £6.60) whenever at least three of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark. The more numbers you mark, the more often that happens, and the more tickets it takes.

Numbers you markTicketsCost per drawCost per weekHow often the guarantee comes into play
8 of 508£20£401 in 41 draws, about once every 5 months
10 of 5017£42.50£851 in 21 draws, about once every 2 months
12 of 5029£72.50£1451 in 12 draws, about once every 6 weeks
15 of 5055£137.50£2751 in 6.6 draws, about once every 3 weeks
18 of 5094£235£4701 in 4.1 draws, about once every 2 weeks

The cost per week covers both draws a week. The tool above also has cheaper wheels with weaker guarantees, and bigger ones that guarantee four or five numbers.

Match-2 wheels: more numbers for fewer tickets

In EuroMillions, two numbers on one line pays about £2.70. A match-2 wheel guarantees that whenever at least two of the winning numbers are among the ones you mark, at least one ticket matches two. That takes far fewer tickets than a three-number guarantee, so the same money covers many more numbers.

It doesn't change your odds or your average return, whichever tickets you play. What it changes is how regularly those small wins come and, with more numbers marked, how often three or four winning numbers land among yours by luck.

Key-number wheels

A key number goes on every ticket, and a smaller wheel covers the rest of your numbers. That cuts the cost a lot, which is why key wheels are popular. The catch is that the guarantee only counts in draws where your key is drawn, and in EuroMillions any one number is drawn about once in 10 draws.

So for the same money, a normal wheel's guarantee comes into play more often. Here are three-number guarantees side by side:

Every EuroMillions prize is shared from one fund in euros across all the EuroMillions countries, then converted to pounds and adjusted for the UK's share, so no prize is fixed. The amounts shown are typical UK prizes: the middle value of each prize over the two years to September 2026. Stars alone win nothing; one number wins only with both stars. Rules, prizes and odds were checked on October 5, 2026 against the official source; always confirm them, and your results, at national-lottery.co.uk.

Can a wheel improve your odds?

No. Each line still has the same 1 in 139,838,160 chance at the top prize, and the same average return, however you choose its numbers. What a wheel changes is how your wins are grouped: random tickets can all miss even when the draw lands on your numbers, and a wheel makes sure at least one ticket catches them. How lottery wheels work.

Questions

How many numbers should I mark?

As many as your budget allows. In EuroMillions, going from 8 to 18 numbers takes the cost from £20 to £235 a draw, and the three-number guarantee from 1 in 41 draws to 1 in 4.1. Lottery pools can afford the bigger wheels, which is where wheels make the most sense.

Which Lucky Stars should I use?

Your choice. Putting the same pair on every ticket means that if they're drawn, every ticket matches them. Mixing pairs spreads your chances across more of them, but only a few tickets can match. On average the two pay the same.

How do I play these tickets in the UK?

In shops, only official National Lottery play slips are accepted, so copy each line onto a play slip by hand. You can also buy online at national-lottery.co.uk or in the National Lottery app if you live in the UK or the Isle of Man and you're there when you play.
